ARTIST BIO
Being an artist helps me enjoy the infinite beauty of life--to see the world in all its splendor, glory, wonder, and horror. I get enormous pleasure from the creative process of making things. I want my work to reach out to people and give them as much pleasure and joy in seeing it as I get from creating it. I strive to make it both beautiful and interesting. CURRENT WORK From 2009 on, I have been creating a series of image collections. Each consists of a series of images with a unifying subject gathered and displayed in a large digital print. For the first time I am offering them here at YAG for purchase. The collections are organized by recurrent themes, preoccupations, and interests such as Found Objects, Figurative Abstractions, Texts, People, Art Objects, etc. I am intending to now pursue gallery representation, as each (or combinations) of these themed collections could form the basis for a gallery show of the prints. My past success as a creative person (see below) makes me believe I will be successful as a contemporary visual artist. These prints are on opportunity for you to support an emerging artist in that endeavor. BACKGROUND VIDEO ARTIST I began actively pursuing my interest in art when I was in graduate school at NYU. This focused on the visual arts, first as a photographer and then as an early explorer in video art. My video works were produced at Channel 13's Experimental TV Lab, and as artist-in-residence at Syracuse University. One of them--Paint--was chosen to appear in the first video art exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, and is part of their permanent collection. For the past year, I have revived this interest in video art, creating a series of experimental video cartoons and comic strips derived from them. They are not yet ready to be offered for purchase. TOY AND GAME INVENTOR I pursued a career as an independent toy and game inventor. I've created and licensed all types of toys and games, the most well-known of which is Tickle Me Elmo. http://rondubrenstoysandgames.blogspot.com/ CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ARTIST Selections of my art have been shown at a one-person exhibit at Broadway Windows, the Washington Square Galleries small works show, the Red Eft Gallery, and The Noho 2008 Art Walk (in which I was awarded the prize for excellence in art). This website show some of the body of work I have created as a contemporary visual artist. http://rondubrensart.blogspot.com/
