Had begun the artistic life very young, drawing and painting of what was all around. Discovered photography at the age of fourteen, being attracted to its instantaneous nature and the ability to record minutest of details in a fraction of a second. However, the inherent limitations of photography stifled creativity. The advent of digital technology was like 'creative nirvana'. It has made me an artist once again ! Initially, photography was a passionate hobby. However, after meeting a few who's who of the British photographic scene in London, had decided to study photography to be a professional photographer. Have been one for over 50 years. My first solo exhibition, "Some Moments Preserved", held at the prestigious The Camera Club of Great Britain, then housed at 23, Manchester Square, had a 6 page review in "the British Journal of Photography" (BJP) by the eminent art critic, Ainslie Ellis. The enigmatic, late Bill Jay, often featured my work in his magazine, "Camera Owner". "The BJP", "Camera Owner" and "the Amateur Photographer" often featured my work on the covers, and inside their magazines. Participated in many group shows in various galleries and Reed House of Piccadilly, London. After decades in London, photographing, and winning national and international awards, like "the World and Its People" by Kodak of Rochester, "Citiscapes" by Cokin of France, L'Oreal's "Beauty Photographer of the Year" awards for three consecutive years, awards for portraiture, street photography and writing about my travels for a leading Indian magazine, "the Illustrated Weekly of India". returned to Mumbai, India to join the popular women's magazine, "Eve's Weekly" as their Chief In-house Photographer, photographing the women celebrities of the time, fashion, food and photo-journalistic stories. Six happy years later had set up my own studio. For eight years served as the Chairman, of the erstwhile Advertising & Industrial Photographers Association of India (now, Photographers Guild of India). For the last few years teaching portraiture and fashion photography at the well known academy, Shari Academy of Professional Photography. Most of the images shown here are mainly photographic, while a few are digitally 'altered reality'.
